Now, I have covered SEO before briefly, and it can be a tricky beast (I am still learning it, and to be honest EVERYONE is still learning as things can change pretty quickly). It involves optimizing your website content, both on-page and off-page, with relevant keywords and phrases that your target audience is searching for.
First, you want to focus on On-page SEO. This includes optimizing titles, meta descriptions, and content, as well as relevant keywords.
Next is Off-page SEO. Off-page refers to what happens off the website. (Man, aren’t you glad I’m here to break it down for you? I bet right now you’re thinking, this right here was worth me reading the whole blog. You’re welcome.) This involves link-building, guest blogging, as well as social media. But this also includes creating and optimizing your Google Business profile. This helps enhance your local search ranking.

An email list is a great way to build a loyal group of followers.
So, Roger, how does this work?
Well, let me again go off the cuff here. Let’s say you know that there are 5 things you need on your website to be effective. So you create a lead magnet about this topic. It does not have to be long. But it does have to give your potential client value. So when they land on your page you have this email sign up form where, IN EXCHANGE for the thing you are offering them, you get their email address. Now that you have their email address, you start a email nurturing sequence. What is an email nurturing sequence? It is where you write anywhere from 5-10 emails that are automatically sent out to your email over time, say a few weeks or so and then you ALSO email them regularly.
By offering something of value and then continuing to offer more value regularly you stay top of mind (which unsurprisingly leads to #5) as well as a group you can sell to over time (especially if you have a product or products).
Lastly, we have referrals. Don’t underestimate referrals. Word of mouth is a powerful tool. When you have happy clients, ask them to refer their friends and colleagues, cousins best friends dog’s sister’s sitter on her mothers side twice removed. Anyone who might benefit from your service. This is a simple way to get more traffic to your website. Also, don’t forget about your email list 😳. If you provide valuable information and products, chances are your former clients, referral partners and even subscribers will gladly share with their colleagues.
